A concentrated mixture with cells taken from patients’ blood is extracted by spinning it in a special centrifuge machine. This compound is then injected back into their scalp to stimulate blood flow, boost the natural function of the follicles and to reverse the cases of hair loss. The stem cells injected prompt the growth of new collagen and blood vessels, which then rejuvenate the skin, increase availability of cell nutrients, improve follicle vascularisation, stimulate hair growth and increase the size of follicles and the hair.
The discomfort level depends on the area treated and the individual pain threshold of each person. Usually this procedure is not considered to be painful, however, since we cannot use local anaesthesia when treating scalp, this procedure may feel slightly uncomfortable to some patients, but absolutely painless to others. It is however quite usual to experience significant reduction in pain after the first or second injection.
The PRP procedure has been used in surgery and healing sports injuries for years. However, recently it has become an extremely popular choice for skin rejuvenation, hair loss and anti-ageing purposes. With very little downtime and a low possibility of side effects, the treatment proves to be a perfect tool to treat the factors that are known to cause hair loss and to promote the re-growth of the hair, to induce the growth of follicles and to hydrate the scalp.
Scalp treatment benefits with this treatment are both, immediate and long lasting (up to 2 years). However to achieve optimum results, we would create a personalised treatment course based on your individual condition.
Usually series of 4-6 treatments are recommended for the best results. Treatments can be performed every 3 months all year around.
At our clinic we use active ingredients and most advanced techniques. However, it is not unusual for the skin to display slight rosiness or post treatment redness, which will normally diminish within the 48 hours post procedure.
In the rare event some patients may develop an allergic reaction causing temporary rash, which could last up to several days.
As highly skilled professionals we always want to ensure that our clients get the best possible care and advice prior and post treatment. Therefore, we kindly ask you to fully inform us of your medical history, changes in skin condition, reactions and sensitivity, as well as sun exposure and any medication you are currently taking.
Unfortunately PRP for hair cannot be performed during pregnancy. Nevertheless, we can still treat our clients during this precious time of their lives, using only proven products and pregnancy safe techniques.
In order for us to provide you with the best possible service and to achieve the top results, we recommend coming in for a consultation, where we will thoroughly examine your skin and hair and will assess your unique situation. We will take your full medical history and your lifestyle characteristics into account, in order to establish your key concerns and to ensure that you are advised on the most suitable treatment.
Note: PRP for HAIR can only be performed by a medical doctor.
